You could go into farming with Jim and I. :) That is what we want to do since we are sick of our jobs, too! Something fun like an apple orchard?!
This article talks about being a programmer vs. being a manager, and the different kinds of people that might enjoy each job, and what it's like to be stuck in the wrong one.
e.) science manager. Apparently Eric and I are on the same wavelength even though we didn't talk about it. Imagine how awesomely your current department could run if you were the actual boss of it, not just holding it together by the skin of your teeth from 2 levels of management below what you could actually do well.
